Main Article Content
Abstract
The career of Medicine is characterized by its high demand and selectivity. This leads to the fact that many young applicants fail to pass the admission tests or have to try more than once to enter. Considering the problems described above, the main objective of this research is to describe the profile of students entering the Medicine program at the Catholic University “Nuestra Señora de la Asunción”, Asunción Campus, in the first semester of 2021. The study adopts the quantitative approach and resorts to the documentary analysis technique to collect the data. The research concludes that the students who managed to enter the Medical School are between 18 and 21 years old, predominantly women and come from the Central Department, Paraguay. Regarding the academic profile, it is noted that most of those admitted to the career have had a good performance in High School, with an average grade close to 5, the maximum grade; and have completed the Scientific Baccalaureate with emphasis on Basic Sciences and Technology. Finally, among those admitted to the Medical School, the majority of students come from private schools.
