Appropriateness of the teaching methods and techniques used in the Social Sciences of Scientific High School, General Artigas, Itapúa, 2024

Abstract

The social sciences are indispensable due to the inherent historical nature of the educational phenomenon. It is crucial to explore perspectives from related disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of education for the acquisition of skills and abilities, in terms of competence. Therefore, the objective of this study was to describe the relevance of the methods and techniques implemented in the teaching and learning processes in the Social Sciences program within the Scientific High School with an Emphasis on Social Sciences at the Colegio Nacional República Oriental del Uruguay, located in the General Artigas district, Itapúa department. The research was a non-experimental, descriptive field study, as it focused on collecting data directly from individuals—specifically the principal, teachers, and students at the aforementioned institution. The results show that teachers widely use teaching methods and techniques adapted to students’ needs in the social sciences. Although they emphasize the importance of feedback and active participation as key elements for carrying out constructivist activities, limitations in technological and methodological resources constitute obstacles that affect educational quality.
