Abstract

This research is focused on the analysis of risk factors predisposing to suicidal behavior in patients admitted to public primary care centers. Qualitative approach, with a descriptive-phenomenological scope. Cross-sectional case studies. The sample consisted of 3 individuals with a previous history of suicide attempt. The method used was the hypothetical-deductive observation, the techniques used were: structured interview, Beck's Hopelessness Scale and the Suicidal Ideation Scale of the same author. The results obtained were: the presence of a high level of suicidal ideation, concomitance between drug use and abuse in previous suicide attempts. The easy access to methods to commit suicide and the influence of family problems as a triggering or precipitating factor also stand out. With respect to the beliefs that the individual has in case of consummation of the suicidal act, and how it would affect his family, it was alleged that such an act would have caused pain to them, but that they only perceived it as a method to end their personal suffering.
