Abstract

Yield components are highly influenced by the environment, the response of a group of genotypes to a specific environment may be different, and their evaluation is necessary to select the genotype to be used. The objective was to evaluate the yield components of four wheat varieties. Itapúa 90, Canindé 31, Toruk and CD 150 wheat varieties were evaluated, presenting cycles of 120, 120 to 125, 130 and 120 days, respectively. The experiment was conducted in Katueté, Paraguay, planting was carried out on May 25, 2021. The plots were made up of six lines of five meters, with a spacing of 0.17 m between lines, with a density equivalent to 120 kg ha-1 of seeds. The experimental design used was randomized complete blocks, with 4 blocks. The variables yield (kg ha-1) and thousand grain mass (g), obtained in physiological maturation, were evaluated. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the means were compared by Tukey at 5%. There was a significant effect on yield, standing out CD 150, with 2,785 kg ha-1, which presents an early cycle and a shorter cycle in the vegetative phase, which may favor its response to environmental conditions (frost and drought). The earliness of a genotype favors a better response to unfavorable environmental conditions such as those mentioned. For thousand grain mass, the varieties did not differ statistically. In the environmental conditions evaluated, the CD 150 variety stood out for yield.
