Open access repositories improves the scientific process, increases the visibility and use of the research, house collections of scientific papers and other research outputs and made accessible to all on the web. In order to determine whether the Central Library of the National University of Asunción is prepared to manage the repository facing college requirements needed to the challenge of Open Access this case study is performed. The results reveal that the Central Library has technologies and adequate staff for a possible implementation of open access repository, has digitized analogue materials and scientific research by teachers, researchers such as journal articles, theses, projects to degree, among others. Regulation has documents available; however is not explicit assignment of copyright for the provision of open access repository collection. Therefore it can be considered that the Central Library is prepared to manage the open access institutional repository, adjusting the provisions on copyright in its rules. This requirement essential because it depends entirely accessibility owner.
