This article is an investigation about the procedure applied in the Magistrates' Courts in Itapúa department, from the enactment of the law 1600/00 against domestic and family violence in Paraguay, to comprehend procedures applied, what types of evidence, the role of the Police and Health Centers, and providing effective care to victims of domestic violence and prevent revictimization as well as to, follow the critical path, falling back into the cycle of violence and analyze what are the myths that reinforce a culture of violence and the causes of domestic and family violence in Itapúa. This investigation was methodologically based on a study of 19 magistrate's district offices, through the analysis of a descriptive / explanatory type study, having as unit of analysis the records of domestic and family violence handled in the Magistrate's district office, surveys as well as questionnaires administered to the Judges.
